Niagara Wheatfield wrestling

In 1963, Armand Cacciatore formed the first wrestling team at Niagara Wheatfield High, In just a few short years that program became a power-house and began a long tradition of excellence in the Niagara Frontier League and Section Six.

Armand Cacciatore's teams compiled a record of 330 wins and 30 losses during his coaching stints, which ran from 1963-71 and 1979-93. Armand's teams were class sectional champs a record 23 times, captured 17 Niagara Frontier League Championships. Coach Cacciatore's grapplers produced winning streaks of 68 and 88 matches. In addition, "Ace" sent over 35 wrestlers to the New York State Championships as Section Six Champions.

Armand Cacciatore is widely recognized as a legend in Western New York high school wrestling circles and has earned numerous honors including NFL wrestling Coach of the Year and Section Six Coach of the Year. "Ace" is truly a Hall of Famer having been inducted into the New York State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2002 Armand was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame and in 2007 "Ace" was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Armand Cacciatore retired from coaching in 1998 and now spends his winters in Florida with his greatest accomplishment, wife Mimi.
